It probably says something about how crazy things have been that I’m only managing to send this the night before the performances. But better late than not at all!
Circulate is a programme designed to bring circus and theatre artists together to create something new, and three groups will be sharing their work.
About the show: Performances will be at Jackson’s Lane Theatre in North London on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 Feb at 7.30pm. Full details are here: https://www.jacksonslane.org.uk/events/circulate/
Here’s a little picture of me pretending to be a circus person!
How I’m Doing
The past few weeks (or really, couple of months) have been really full on. I did an intensive writing push and finally finished a draft of a project that has been in the works for I think about 8 years, which was hugely satisfying!
Then I immediately shifted into gear to create this circus show. This script didn’t exist two weeks ago, so it’s been pretty full on getting it finished.
This was also, I think, my first time back in the rehearsal room pretty much since I got sick. Being properly involved in the rehearsals was exhausting (which seems ridiculous given that I was just sitting there for most of it watching these incredible performers do their thing) - but it was also absolutely magical. I loved every minute.
Then I got covid.
I was lucky that it was fairly mild, but I was still cooped up for a week, and yesterday was my first day properly out of isolation, so I’m just catching up on everything and life.
If you can come along this weekend, I’d love to see you. It’s been a wonderful way to celebrate getting back into the swing of things, and I’m incredibly proud of the piece.
For now,
Alli
