The Total Artist 2.3: Film and Movement
Considering the possibilities of space, time, and most of all - change
Hello friends,
Thanks for your patience about sending this newsletter out a bit late! I was out of the country for a week on what felt like the trip of a lifetime with my best friend from Uni. But I am now back at my computer and able to share the video I was creating for the full moon, moving into a new aspect of our consideration of the possibilities of photography.
In this video…
We are shifting our consideration from still photography to the possibilities of film/cinema, exploring the creative possibilities this can unlock.
This touches on:
How pictures freeze time, while film connects space and time back together
Taking some quick inspiration from the world of physics: playing with speed, time, or space/distance to gain new perspective
How time and change are connected, and what this shows us about our own relationship to these things
Acknowledging that resisting change can be as important as accepting it
Letting movement be a catalyst for action, and unblocking the things in the way of our impulse to create
Recognising your natural internal pace and cultivating more opportunities to inhabit it
Embracing imperfection to share work in progress
If you are making any interesting discoveries as you consider what film can offer to your life, I would love to hear them!
Access Support: If you have access needs that I’m not currently meeting, please do drop me a line! (The best email is contact@ac-smith.com.) I’d really like to make this project available to anyone who wants to participate.
And how change is the seed of all story!
